Like most people, we have a dream, and that dream is to put art into earth orbit. Now naturally to do something like this you would need a satellite and so to appease our creative desires we began the process of designing what we thought would be a great idea.
As it turns out, our ideas were not great. The cost to put our initial designs into orbit, once built, would not have been cost effective and they would likely have put other payloads in fear of their collective lives as a shaky rocket makes its way into orbit!
Can you imagine a work breaking off and rattling around a government funded telescope project and breaking the lens!
For this reason, we reached out to a local aerospace company for some assistance.
The above are 1U satellite concepts and while they could work, we feel they do not do our concept justice.
Ultimately a 6U unit would be the most suitable for our needs since we would be including additional components for our satellites science modules.
Hano explaining satellites to Maskull…
The above is an animation of how the satellite will look.
Maskull has been working on one of the first pieces:
This would be cast and attached to the satellite.
